I placed 3rd in the Men's Physique Master's class last night at the NPC Powerhouse Classic. The highlight of the night for me was a man and his 5 year old son Aiden came over to me and he said, "you were the guy who won in Rhode Island 2 years ago, I remember you." The little boy shook my hand and to him I was like a super hero, so great I made such an impact on this young boy who reminded me of one of my own sons. Hey, I might not have won last night on points but in the game of life I did because I made this little kids night, just an awesome moment!

Thank You NPC for a Great Year by John Quinlan
“I just wanted to thank the NPC for giving me the
opportunity to compete with them this year. I was truly honored to win the
Overall Vermont Men’s Physique back in April, although what I am most proud of
is all the amazing NPC athletes, promoters & coordinators God has allowed
me to become friends with as a competitor.”

I Sincerely Apologize to the NPC for Being Careless and Irresponsible by John Quinlan
I Sincerely Apologize to the NPC for Being Careless and
Irresponsible
I sincerely apologize to the entire NPC for being
careless and irresponsible at the Brooklyn Grand Prix this past Saturday
October 5th. I was in the Men's Physique Open and Master's class and
I had stepped outside the back of the venue for a few moments with many of the
other competitors and I didn't hear my number called when the Master's Physique
was starting. I had just finished talking with bodybuilder Quesi Beaton when
one of the guys came out and said one of the physique classes was starting.
Careless because I just assumed the open physique was before the masters and I
was class B so I just assumed class A was the one out there and I would come in
then. Lesson learned to NEVER ASSUME ANYTHING! I always check the list on the
wall and know the correct order, careless because I trained hard for 12 weeks,
careless because I have too much respect for the NPC, irresponsible because I
know better and just plain stupid because so many people believed in me and I
let them down because of my own negligence. When I finally did make it to the
stage my lineup of guys in the Master’s Physique were already out there. I got
out there so late and I never make mistakes like that. I did apologize to a few
members of the judging panel during the show. I have to much respect for the
NPC to make any excuses. I apologize to the
NPC coordinators, the judges and the entire organization for my lack of
professionalism. I am truly sorry. There will be more shows in the future and I
appreciate Amy Puglise for being so nice when I contacted her about it. You are
right when you asked me from this point on will I ever make this mistake again.
Lesson learned it will never happen again.

Thank You Everybody for All The Well Wishes for My Show Tomorrow by John Quinlan
“Thank you everybody for sending me so much love today
wishing me well in my show tomorrow. It meant the world to me to see so much
kindness sent my way. As God as my witness I will give it everything I have and
win, lose or draw I did my best given the circumstances.”

A Heartfelt Message of Appreciation by John Quinlan
A HEARTFELT MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION
I would just like to take a quick minute to thank all the
people who have supported me throughout 2013. There were many times when I
almost quit and gave up but so many of you with kind words and love didn’t let
me. There were times when I was really down and you picked me up &
motivated me to press on. Throughout the majority of this year I dealt with my
fair share of personal problems and I did my best to tune them out and just
focus on the goals at hand that were successful. To all the romance writers and
authors around the globe, thank you for billing me as ‘The Most Tattooed Male
Romance Cover Model in The World’ it is very special to me and an honor to be
labeled as such. All of the writers have been so nice to me and I am actually
taken back by all of it….just amazing! Winning the NPC Vermont Overall Men’s
Physique this past April had so much personal meaning as I dedicated the win to
my grandfather who was like my real dad who passed away one month prior and yes
I cried on camera talking about it but it was one of the greatest feelings to
be able to follow through with what I promised him. I have so much respect for
the NPC and the people who put these great shows together like Bev Francis and
Mike Feulner as it’s people like this that gave John Quinlan a 2nd
chance in life when I had no sense of direction. I truly feel born again as an
NPC athlete. Being accepted as a brother by all the male cover models at the
Romantic Times convention in Kansas City this past May was a real highlight for
me. Right from the very start I was family and being a featured cover guy there
with the rest is something I will always be proud of. To the great Jillian
Bullock, thank you for believing in John Quinlan. Thank you for selecting me to
star in your 2014 movie, ‘A Sense of Purpose Fighting for Our Lives.’ There
were so many great guys to choose from and you took me and I won’t let you
down. With the addition of actor Chris Mann, who is best known for his role as
Councilman Anthony Gray on HBO's ‘The Wire’, being signed on as well as an
actor and producer of this movie it is really shaping up to be something special.
I am competing tomorrow at the NPC Brooklyn Grand Prix in the Men’s Physique
Open & Master’s class. Guys, I made it here in one piece….despite many
obstacles and a flu like virus this past week that knocked me on my ass we made
it. There is one thing I can promise about tomorrow, I will do my best. Win,
lose or draw I gave it hell and in my heart I can live with that. Thank you
again for everything, it all means so much to me!
God Bless,
- John

My True Opinion of the NPC & Special Thanks to Larry Cuzzi by John Quinlan
In one week I will be competing at the NPC Brooklyn Grand
Prix in the Men’s Physique Open & Master’s class on October 5th. A friend
of mine sent me this today and I thought it was a special post so I thought I
would share it with you. I wrote this on July 12, 2012 and it was titled, ‘Great
People & Great Shows…..My True Opinion About The NPC by John Quinlan.’ It
will be an honor for me to be back on the NPC stage again! So here is what I
wrote,
“I know I have said these same things I am about to write
at this moment before and in a previous post but I just wanted to thank the NPC
for making the 2012 Team Universe Weekend 2 great shows one more time. Oh, and
before I forget, I would like to personally thank David Lees who competed at
the Team Universe Men’s Physique. I was hanging out with Dave and a few of his
friends who run a forum on Muscular Development before we hit the stage for the
finals. David Lees is a true professional with a great attitude, very humble
and respectful. Strong with great musculature….a great physique! Congrats Dave
to you and your wife on expecting your baby girl in October. May God watch over
you and your family always. I really enjoyed competing in the Men's Physique
Class B this past weekend in Teaneck, New Jersey, I gave it my best and I have
much respect for everybody involved. All the classes had some of the best physique's....these
guys are all warriors and I have 100% respect for each and every one of my
fellow competitors. I had the honor of meeting Bev Francis at the Team Universe
as well, what a very nice lady! Her husband Steve Weinberger was a very classy
guy as well, I thank both of them for being so kind to me. I also spoke briefly
with Jose Raymond, great guy. The true definition of what a champion
bodybuilder should look like. It was funny because as kids I grew up in
Melrose, Massachusetts and Jose was in the next town over in Wakefield. I told
Jose I remembered playing baseball against him in an all-star game when we were
14 years old and he thought it was funny when I told him that when the
announcer said……”now batting, Jose Raymond”….Jose was pinch hitting, my entire
team on the bench had the look of fear, ha ha ha! Even the toughest guys on my
team looked scared. Yeah, Jose was even gifted as an athlete at this age. I
have never seen a kid with genetics that impressive, I knew he was destined for
greatness and I was right. Best of luck at the Olympia Jose! And of course I
have to give credit where credit is due to the Biggest Dog, Big Mike Feulner.
Mike, you will always be the man and thanks for the kind words you had for me.
I respect everything you do my friend! Great job at these shows, I would do
them until I was 100 years old if I could. For all the love & respect I
have for this industry and all the people in it. The thrill of competing
knowing you would be there running the show would keep me coming back bro.
Thanks Again!”
I just wanted to thank my friend Larry Cuzzi for
everything he has done for me. Thanks for the advice on everything when I need
it and inspiring me with your hard work ethic. It will be an honor again to go
with you to my NPC show in Brooklyn on October 5th, the Brooklyn Grand Prix
Men's Physique Open & Master's class. Thanks man for making the journey
with me as you motivate me more than anybody....you take me right back to the
old school days of us training in World Gym, Lynnfield. Miss that time and all
the great people that went there. Hey man, as one of my best friends.....I
promise you this, I will try my best for you in this show. I have worked hard
and I just wanted say how appreciative I am.

John Quinlan Boston Strong 120lb. Dumbbell Press
John Quinlan Boston Strong 120lb. Dumbbell Press
In this video I press the 120lb. dumbbells 5 times, the
last one with a bit of help from Big Nick. I weighed in at 198lbs. this morning
and I feel pretty good. I have a little less than 2 weeks until my show on
October 5th which is the NPC Brooklyn Grand Prix Men’s Physique Open
& Masters class. As we all know the terrible tragedy that took place at
this year’s Boston Marathon and thought it would be nice to wear a ‘Boston
Strong’ t-shirt in the video and say it verbally as I will always be honored to
be part of this great city with such brave men and women in uniform who united together
to protect us from pure evil during that time. My upcoming show is in Brooklyn
and as a Boston guy I can honestly say I have the utmost respect for all New
Yorkers. I will never forget September 11, 2001 and the brave men and women of
New York in uniform for their heroism. 100% respect for Boston & New York
always from me.
This video was filmed on September 24, 2013
Thanks to my friend Joey for the filming
God Bless,
- John
